Straight or curved
This matters more than anything else. A straight run uses a stock rail. Any bend, corner, or landing means the rail is built to your staircase, which costs more and takes longer.
How long the staircase is
Rail is priced by length, so a short flight to a landing costs less than a full run to a second storey. We measure rather than estimate.
The seat and options
Powered swivel, folding rail at the bottom of the stairs, heavier-duty models, and remote controls all change the total. We'll show you what's worth it and what isn't.

Original Medicare generally does not, because a stairlift is treated as a home modification rather than durable medical equipment. Some Medicare Advantage plans include a home-safety allowance, veterans may qualify for VA assistance, and certain Indiana Medicaid waiver programs can help. No. The rail fastens to the stair treads, not to your wall, so there's no structural work and nothing to patch afterward. If the lift is ever taken out, the small fixing holes in the treads are easy to fill.
A straight stairlift usually goes in within a few hours, and we can often do it the day after your estimate. A curved staircase needs a rail built to your exact measurements, so it takes longer from order to install. We'll give you a firm date when we measure.
The lift runs on batteries that recharge whenever the chair is parked, so it keeps working through an outage. You won't be stranded upstairs or down.
Modern lifts run quietly and move at a gentle pace. The seat, arms, and footrest all fold up flat against the wall when not in use, so anyone else in the house can still walk the stairs normally.
